The Friday Beauty Edit

The Friday Beauty Edit

Today is the start of a new regular post, where I’ll be sharing with you great new beauty products that I rate.  I won’t hold back on the luxuries, but I’ll bring you more affordable ideas too.   I’d love to know what you think so please do comment.

Timothy Dunn Grecian Lime Scented Candle, £42 – The florist, Timothy Dunn, known for his striking, colour saturated arrangements, has been doing the winners bouquets at Wimbledon for the past four years.  His candle combines grapefruit, lemon and lime with lily of the valley, cedar and sandalwood.  Fabulously bright and refreshing, and larger than the average scented candle, it lasts 60 hours instead of 40.

Kiehl’s Vanilla & Cedarwood Aromatic Mist, £26 for 30ml – Forget sweet cakes, this vanilla scent is smoky and bitter – why it works so well when combined with cedarwood.  The result is earthy and aromatic, which gets you in your stomach like that in love feeling.   Although unisex, this is really good on a man.  It launches September, I just had to tell you now.

Dior Bronze Self-Tanning Oil, £28.  This is the first self tanning oil I’ve come across.  It gives a light golden glow thanks to its low self tan concentration, which means it’s also less easy to go wrong with.  Its scent is quite strong – tobacco like and masculine – created says the blurb to release the feel good endorphins of sunbathing.

Sanctuary Spa Leave-On Exfoliating Cream, £16, available July 1st.  Apply under moisturiser as a light, skin brightening exfoliant.  Or, as a mask – spend 5 minutes massaging it in.  Ideal for older skin or those who find face scrubs too harsh.  Expect your skin to look more glow-y in around 14 days if not before.

Nude ProGenius Treatment Oil, £58.  This contains all four key omega oils, 3, 6, 7 and 9.  Each has a slightly different skin benefit – healing, hydrating, anti-ageing, restorative, soothing (good on those with rosacea).   Smooth two or three drops between palms, then over face massaging in with fingertips.  This scent-free version launches September 6th.  Meantime, try Nude Replenishing Night Oil, £44, which also has all four omegas, but is softly scented with jasmine.  It’s richer, but it goes a long way.  If you can’t wait till September – this is superb.
