Okay. First, please don’t go away but click this You Tube link, the volume on your computer high and love this song (Lindisfarne, Winter Song).
Now, check out this Christmas Card from Burberry. Funny ironic. See my probably rather impertinent message here – too irresistible (hope link works). And there is a worthy cause to be supported there, too. You know they won the Digital Marketing award at this year’s British Fashion Awards because they’re spot on or rather, forward. I can’t quite believe that they were the only designer to live stream their last show (I saw it at my desk, got into quite a twitter frenzy over it), but there it was.
Like everyone else I’ve been lying low this past week. You too? Join my new club: The Racking Cough Skin Club. Mine is dull, blotchy, pale with hints of blue and red, dark beneath my eyes. So, this past week I’ve been dealing with it gently. Cleansing (evening) with Liz Earle‘s Cleanse And Polish whose eucalyptus scent came into its own. Following with a facial oil – Aromatherapy Associates’ Revitalising. On top of that, layering on moisturiser, Creme de la Mer – though anything rich and gentle, would be fine, Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser ideal. The secret to this ‘RCSC 3-step’ is first, the gentle, exfoliating action of the muslin cleansing cloth, together with its gentle, creamy cleansing formula. Second, the feeding dry, dehydrated skin with a light, nourishing oil applied to warm, slightly damp skin. And third, the locking in of its goodness with a thin layer of moisturiser.
Foundation can be difficult to put on in winter, especially after a cold – it doesn’t smooth on evenly and can show up flaky skin. This is why Givenchy‘s new foundation, Photo’Perfexion Light is such a find. It is sheer foundation with a sponge applicator tip. This may sound like a gimmick but it makes sense. A good quality make-up sponge is great for giving a smooth, even finish. The foundation itself is sublime – sheer (not enough if you have high redness), light, very easy to blend, perfect colour (mine 4 Light Beige). Squeeze the tube gently and a little pops through onto the sponge. Dot onto cheeks, nose and chin and buff in. You may find you get too heavy an application this way. Unscrew the sponge, squeeze a blob onto the back of your hand. Screw it back on and work from the back of your hand. It’s out in February – not too long to wait.
