Spring trend: super soft make-up

This look from the Top Shop spring campaign is bang on trend.  It embraces the soft, sheer look to make-up that the make-up supremo, Terry Barber of MAC was chatting to me about the other day.  Think lips that look like you’ve simply applied lip balm and your lips are naturally that rosy.  Recreate the effect yourself with an old reddish brown lipstick applied in a thin layer with a brush, then apply lip balm on top.

For eyes, soft browns smudged over the lid and a little under the eye, and no hard liner is a trend that’s been coming through for a couple of seasons.  It’s great for spring – especially with a bit of gold applied to the inner corner of your eye as you can see here.  Ok, so maybe not for work, but added at the end of the day before an after work drink it adds a bit of glamour and brightens up your eyes a treat – Try Top Shop Crayon in Sun Shower (£7.50).

For skin, keep it natural with one of the new BB creams (I like Estée Lauder Daywear, or Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint in Medium), add a smidgen of face powder (Laura Mercier does a great, colourless loose powder) then reddish brown blush – Tom Ford’s Ravish is expensive but fabulous.  Failing that, try a little of your old reddish brown lipstick smoothed on like cream blusher.
